Visa Processing
Our office processes applications for the following visa categories:
- Tourist visas (short and long stay) subclass 676
- Business visas (short stay) subclass 456
- Transit visas
- Temporary residence
- Resident Return visas
- Our office also processes applications for Australian citizenship by descent.
Processing Times
Most visitor and short stay business visa applications are processed within 10 working days however the requirement of medical examinations may lengthen this timeframe.
Within this timeframe our office is unable to field enquiries regarding the progress of the application. Our office will contact the applicant directly if further information is required.
Our office accepts visa applications from residents of the following provinces:
Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Fujian, Yunnan, and Hainan
Client Service hours
08:30 to 12:30 Monday to Friday (Front Counter)
(Please note you must bring your passport or photo ID, and pass a security check to enter the Consulate.)
15.00 to 16.00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (Visa Evidencing Hour)
(Please note no visa evidencing on Wednesday afternoons)
14.00 to 16.30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (Telephone Enquiries)
(Please note no telephone answering service on Wednesday afternoons)
Application Requirements
All applications must include the correct application form and visa application charge.
Forms can be downloaded from our website and copied.
All applications must include a passport sized photograph of the applicant.
All documents in Chinese must be accompanied by official English translations.
All passports will be returned by EMS Courier at the expense of the applicant. Applicants will be asked to complete an EMS form at time of application.
Please note that the Consulate reserves the right to verify any documents lodged with your application.
All passports submitted to the Australian Consulate must be signed by the bearer.
DIAC is required by law to keep on file all documentation provided in support of a visa application. Any documents provided in an application, can therefore not be returned to the applicant. Applicants should provide certified copies of original documents that they do not wish to be kept by DIAC.
Applications by Mail
Applications can be sent by mail to our office at the above address.Visa application payments can be made by arranging a postal remittance order at any China Post office, addressed to our office.
Passports with applications received by mail will be returned by registered mail.
If you wish to have your passport returned by EMS courier, please include an EMS waybill with your completed return address details and an extra 23RMB with your postal remittance order.
