An Australian Culture Festival, organized by Sun Yat-sen University and supported by the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou, will be held at the School of Communication and Design Auditorium in the Eastern Campus of the Sun Yat-sen University from 11 December to 13 December.
The Australian Culture Festival is part of Australia’s activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Australia and China. The Festival will provide an opportunity to introduce Australia’s multi-cultural society to local students, raise awareness of Australian as a good destination for overseas study and travel, and encourage cultural exchange between Australia and China, especially South China.
The three-day event will open on the evening of 11 December with an address by the Australian Consul-General, Mr Sean Kelly, and a performance by the Australian Torres Strait Baiwa Dance Company. At the same time, Mr Kelly will also open the “Australia, A Photographic Appreciation”, exhibition of over 70 beautiful landscape photographs by renowned Australian photographer Alan Fox. The Consul-General will also judge the finalists of the English Speaking Competition held by the students of Sun-Yat sen University.
