MEDIA RELEASE                                                30 April 2007

Vote for the Best Photo and Win a Return Air Ticket to Australia

The Australian Consulate-General Guangzhou announced today that the 20 finalists’ photos for the ‘Experience Australia’ photo competition has been selected, and the readers of Shenzhen Press Group papers and magazines are invited to send their vote for their favorite photos to the following email address: [email protected] .

Since mid April, the Australian Consulate-General has received hundreds of photos from former students in Australia who are currently Shenzhen residents. The photos have represented their best and most memorable experience as a student in Australia.

“Shenzhen is an important source of overseas students for Australia, and we believe that they have a wealth of interesting experiences to share,” Mr. Sean Kelly, the Australian Consul-General said. “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this exhibition will speak volumes about the enjoyable experiences Chinese students have when choosing to study in Australia.”

The finalist photos will be displayed on the Shenzhen Press Group website (www.sznews.com.cn ) and on the “Study in Australia” website (www.studyinaustralia.gov.au ) and exhibited at various locations in Shenzhen from May 1 to 20 May. The winners will be decided by the public voting and announced at the Australian “Experience Australia” Pavilion at the 3rd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair on Saturday 19 May 2007.

Members of the public voting for their favorite photo will have the opportunity to win great prizes in a “lucky draw”. Vote for the winning photo, and you have 23 chances to win.

First prize will be a return economy-class ticket from Hong Kong to Australia flying Qantas, the Australian airline. Second and third prize-winners will each receive a dinner for two at the newly-opened Sheraton Shenzhen Futian Hotel during their forthcoming Australian Food and Wine Festival. A further 20 voters finalists will also receive a bottle of fine Australian wine courtesy of Auwine Pty Ltd and Shenzhen Galax Trading Co. Ltd. on behalf of Robert Estate. These prizes are similar to those to be won in the photo competition.
