Queensland State Election, 09 September 2006
Dear Australians in south China
For the information of eligible Queensland voters, there will be a State General Election held on 09 September 2006. The following link provides further information on postal voting procedures:

Please note that voting facilities are not available at the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou.

Queensland State General Election - 9 September 2006
Queensland Electors visiting or residing overseas are advised that a State General Election has been called for Saturday, 9 September 2006.
Information about the election can be found on the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s website ( http://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/asp/index.asp ).
Queensland electors who wish to apply for a postal vote must complete an 'Application for a Postal Vote' before ballot papers can be issued. The application can be downloaded from the website ( http://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/asp/index.asp ) . If internet access is not available, electors may obtain copies from any Australian Embassy, High Commission, Consulate-General or Consulate overseas ( http://www.dfat.gov.au/missions/ ) or by contacting the Electoral Commission of Queensland on + 61 1300 881 665 or faxing a request on + 61 7 3229 7391.
The completed 'Application for a Postal Vote' must be forwarded to and received by the Electoral Commission of Queensland by the close-off time of 6.00 pm on Thursday 7 September 2006 (Queensland time).
Ballot papers will then be posted to the elector and must be completed prior to 6pm on Saturday 9 September 2006 (Queensland time).
