THE AUSTRALIAN CONSULATE GENERAL
DOES NOT ISSUE OR RENEW DRIVER'S LICENCES
As from 1 March 1995, the Consulate General no longer supply renewal application forms for Australian Driver's Licences. Persons wishing to renew or replace Driver's Licences must obtain a renewal form from the relevant State or Territory Licensing Authority in Australia (details are supplied HERE).
On receipt of the renewal form, please read the "Advice to Licensee" carefully. As each State in Australia has differing regulations regarding the renewal of Driver's Licences whilst living overseas, please ensure you are aware of all requirements for such things as renewal of an expired licence, fees and other charges and the photo requirements.
Should you require the renewal form to be witnessed, you can make an appointment with a Consular Officer between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The cost of witnessing the form and photograph is Renminbi equivalent of A$20. This charge is separate to the cost of renewing the licence. You will be required to bring your Australian Passport as proof of identity. It will then be the responsibility of the applicant to return the completed application to the relevant State Licensing Authority.
