China: Anti-Japanese Protests
Large anti-Japanese protests have taken place in a number of Chinese cities over the past weeks and have in some instances become violent.
There are reports that further protests may take place over the May Day holiday period in the following cities:
• Beijing – 01 and 04 May 2005
• Guangzhou – 04 May 2005
• Shenzhen – 02 and 04 May 2005
• Shanghai – 04 May 2005
Australians are reminded that the travel advice for China advises Australians to be alert to their own security. This travel bulletin should be read in conjunction with the travel advice for China.
