Australian Federal Election 2007 announced
Australians resident in Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, Guangxi, Yunnan and Hunan Provinces, are advised that the Prime Minister has called a federal election for Saturday, 24 November 2007.
Voting is compulsory in federal elections for Australian citizens resident in Australia. However, if you are outside Australia on Election Day, you will not be fined should you fail to vote as long as you have notified the AEC. For further information, please contact the Australian Electoral Commission www.aec.gov.au .
Voting will take place at 6th floor Development Center, 3 Linjiang Da Dao, Zhujiang New City (the same building as the Australian Consulate General). Note however voting services will be located on the 6th floor not the 12th floor. Enquiries tel: (020) 3814 0111, fax: (020) 3814 0112.
Pre-polling services will be available from 12-23 November 2007. Office hours will be 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Pre-polling services will not be available on 17-18 November 2007.
Polling services on Election Day, Saturday, 24 November 2007 will be open from 8:30am to 5.00pm.
