Australian Federal Election 2007
1. The Australian Consulate-General encourages Australian citizens living or travelling in China to act now to ensure they are enrolled to vote for the 2007 Federal Election, which could be called at any time.
2. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has implemented new requirements for enrolling to vote at federal elections. In short, if you are not enrolled by the date the election writs are issued, you will not be able to vote in the election. Please check the AEC website (www.aec.gov.au ) for further details.
3. The Australian Consulate-General kindly reminds that enrolment and voting by people residing outside Australia is not compulsory, however if you are not going to vote you are required to inform the AEC to avoid receiving a fine. For further information please refer to AEC website: www.aec.gov.au
Yours sincerely
Lyall Crawford
